This natural play space is located next to the dog park and behind the tennis courts. It sits at the top of a canyon. Parking is very easy- there is a lot next to the dog park and it's a very short walk down the pathway to the play area.
There are several "structures" to use as bases for building. You can build a great teepee using the big tripod shaped logs or stack wood between the upright logs spaced perfectly for a shelter.
There are so many materials to use in any way you can think of. Palm fronds of all sizes, wood stumps, logs, sticks, branches and rocks are aplenty!
I love that this area is partially shaded by big trees in front of it. It has never been a problem keeping my boys mostly in the shade while they are playing. Keep your eye out for lizards and snakes, we've seen both.
Living in the city, it's not often that we get opportunities like this for fort building out of branches and both of my boys love coming here! They spend the time pretending, thinking critically, constructing and taking pride in what they make. A win-win for all!
xoxo, Annie
